What being based in Kulai actually changes

Hearing conservation: what the 2019 regulations ask of you

Hearing protection is the category most factories in this corridor get wrong in both directions at on unprotected operators near stamping presses, and over-protected staff in areas that never needed anything. Malaysia's Occupational Safety and Health (Noise Exposure) Regulations 2019 set an action level of 82 dB(A) over an eight-hour average, an exposure limit of 85 dB(A), a maximum of 115 dB(A), and an absolute peak ceiling of 140 dB(C). The 3 dB exchange rate means every 3 dB increase halves the permitted exposure time.

Once you cross the action level you owe your workers a noise risk assessment, suitable hearing protectors, audiometric testing within three months of exposure and annually after that, and a documented hearing conservation programme. The assessment gets repeated at least every five years, or sooner if the plant changes.

Gloves: work out the cost per worker, not the cost per pair

This is the number that changes procurement decisions in a factory. A glove at half the price that lasts a third as long is not a saving it is a 50% increase in spend plus the administrative cost of ordering three times as often, plus the hand injury risk from operators working in a glove that has already failed.

The honest way to settle it is a trial. Give one line ten pairs of your current glove and ten pairs of the alternative, record the date each pair goes out of service, and compare cost per day of protection. We will supply the samples for that.

EN388:2016 cut level D on a 13-gauge seamless liner with a grey PU palm coating. Breathable and form-fitting enough for line work where a heavier cut glove would be pushed up the wrist and defeated. Sizes 7 to 12, 12 pairs per pack.

Warehouse, dispatch and forklift zones

Almost every emergency PPE order we take from this area is for something that was always going to run out. Consumables have predictable burn rates once you measure them for a month, and certified equipment has fixed retirement dates printed on it. Neither should ever be a surprise.
